SP2 upgrade from Microsoft
Bill Gates has done it again. Microsoft is due to release an upgrade to XP to enhance security. I would strongly recommend NOT to install this upgrade at this time. Most of you don't have the security exposures the upgrade is addressing. Some programs may not function after the upgrade. I would suggest waiting at least two months for the corporate users to get all the bugs out of it before looking at upgrading. And it does some things that you probably don't want done to your PC. Well, time was on our side. The SP2 upgrade has proven to be working well. There are some things that it forces on you that we may be able to disable if you so chose. I'll help you!

Spyware is something that keeps track of what you do on the WWW. Not very nice! Congress is currently (9/10/04) trying to pass legislation to prohibit bad guy Internet users from doing that. Until that becomes law, and they actually enforce it, here is a program that does a real good job of finding spyware on your system. It is called Ad-Aware and is downloadable. Next time I come visit I'll be happy to install it for you.
You may have seen the ads currently on tv for Stop Sign. Well it seems that warnings like this have worked! They no longer have a web site. They advertise virus, spyware and pop-up blockers. Yes, they do that. They also install their own stuff and try and remove some things. Like AdAware that I have installed for some of you. Then they have their own pop-ups and spyware securely installed. I suggest ignoring the ads!
